On a beautiful October day in Dallas, Texas, Abi and John tied the knot at the stunning Dallas Oasis Venue in Red Oak, Texas! The couple celebrated their love as well as their cultures by combining a traditional Nigerian wedding ceremony with a traditional American ceremony! Brought to life by the amazing Becca Schmidt of Shoe String Flings Event Planning, the Egan wedding was certainly one for the books!
Abi and John incorporated Nigerian wedding traditions and customs into their wedding day. The ceremony began with the bridal party and couple dancing their way into the ceremony space to kick off the celebration! John’s family was offered a traditional dowry and the two exited their ceremony with the traditional money dance.
Mixed with these traditions was a traditional American Christian ceremony officiated by John’s pastor to celebrate his customs.
Speeches kicked off with Abi’s best friend signing her a beautiful song from their tribe in Nigeria. This song was so beautiful I nearly cried, especially when the rest of Abi’s family began to join in the singing! It was then time for the couples first dance as well as their individual dances with their parents.
